Directions: Answer each of the following questions. This is a "just for you" assignment to help you prepare for your test. It will not be collected.
- What are the five levels of organization in the human body from simplest to most complex?
- Explain how cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems are related. (what is made up of what). Be able to identify pictures of each.
- Explain what nerve tissue, connective tissue, muscle tissue, and epithelial tissue do.
- Explain what homeostasis is and how it is important to the body.
- What are the functions and major organs of the Circulatory, Respiratory, Skeletal, Muscular, Digestive, Nervous, and Excretory Systems?
- What are the three main muscle types and how are they different from each other?
- What is a tendon? What is a ligament?
- When muscles work in pairs and one of those muscles contracts, what does the other one do? Why do muscles have to work in pairs?
- What is the function of the atria? What is the function of the ventricles? How does job of the left ventricle differ from the right ventricle?
- How do the three types of blood vessels differ (arteries, veins, and capillaries) in their functions?
- Where are valves located in the circulatory system and what is their function?
- What is the difference between the central and the peripheral nervous system?
- Explain how moving the diaphragm helps move air in and out of the lungs (think about the lung models
- Explain how two body systems work together to move your body.
